A great photo to me is one that grabs my attention, and in the best cases, causes me to have some kind of visceral reaction. This shot of a baby elephant by Wildlife Photographer, Carole Deschuymere caused me to act like a blithering idiot—in a good way.
I was going through her photos online, which are amazing by the way, but when I landed on this image I burst into baby-talk, (you know, the way you talk to your pets when they’re so adorable your heart hurts). “Look how cute you are with your widdle trunk and floppy ears! OOOOhhh, Look at you! You’re too precious! Just too precious!… Look at you run!”
Yeah, I know, it’s a bit embarrassing but it’s exactly what I did.
This photo just went straight to my heart, and if a photo can do that, you know it’s good.
