Things I Love: Jawbone Era Bluetooth Headset

I love my iPhone 6+ but it’s a pain in the butt to hold when I’m on a call and I want to use my hands. I have to cradle it between my shoulder and my ear and as I am sure you’ve experienced with your smart phone, it’s really awkward and uncomfortable.  I rarely last longer than a minute or two. The speaker is fine for some situations but others, it’s just not appropriate.

For work and for travel I use the Jawbone Era bluetooth headset. It’s small, lightweight, ergonomic, has great noise cancellation (I can walk down the crazy streets of New York and hear and be heard), and its own charging cradle that connects to a USB port. When fully juiced it lasts up to four hours.

While I use it for work on a daily basis, my headset was a Godsend a couple of weeks ago when my travel plans went haywire. I missed my flight and was re-routed to a city an hour away from my destination. Between delays, scrambling to make it to a different airport, having to endure endless red tape and a domino effect of mishaps, 12 hours were added to my journey. I was not happy.

While I was waiting for my first flight to board, I jumped on my phone to research other options, check on rental cars and rearrange the plans I had scheduled for the day.

My handy-dandy headset gave me the hands off flexibility to use my phone’s Internet capabilities–and in a few instances while I was rushing for a connection, to hold on to my carry on luggage—while simultaneously haggling with the airline on the phone. (For some reason my luggage made it on my original flight but I didn’t, and it was winging its way cross-country without me).

If I hadn’t had my headset I would have gone over the edge.  I was already so frustrated that if  I’d been slowed down by my phone and not able to multi-task my head would have exploded.

Thankfully, I made it through the day noggin intact.
