Many people prefer Africa in the dry season, when the high grass is dead and the animals are more easily seen. Not me, I love the green season – and not just because it’s cheaper, though that’s a great bonus.
I love photographing wildlife through the grass and the leaves, I find it more intimate and authentic.
These lions walked through the Okavango Delta in March at sunrise, their coats blending into the grass perfectly camouflaged, the sunlight turning everything gold. It was only at this moment, when they raised their heads in response to the screech of a baboon, that I knew exactly where they stood.
